Camera gets another take when they blow a shot; you should too.

Be persistent. If you have a problem with lavaliere rustle, and you attempt to fix it numerous times without success, keep at it until you work it out.

No one can fault you for being professional.

Then again, sometimes you just have to live with it.

I was working for a 60 Minutes story about Mob guys/organized crime. We were in a very mobbed-up apartment in New Jersey. I had two of the subjects wired up. Everything was fine, except every five minutes or so, I would hear an electrical snap in my headphones. I tried everything: switching the lavalieres, the transmitters, different receivers, new frequencies, all without success. The answer was right in front of me, literally. The mob guy apartment was carpeted in a long, brown polyester shag. The mob guys themselves, although clearly not athletic, were both wearing nylon track suits.
